Preschool

Washington Borough is pleased to announce the expansion of our free full-day preschool program for 3 and 4 year old children who reside in Washington Borough for the 2025–2026 school year. Students who have siblings attending Taylor Street School will be prioritized for placement at that location. In addition current 3 year old students at Taylor Street School will be prioritized as well. Remaining available seats will be filled through a lottery process if the number of applicants exceeds program capacity. While we make every effort to consider parent preferences, placement at a specific site cannot be guaranteed. Students will be assigned to available programs and locations. Our preschool providers will receive support from Taylor Street School’s Preschool Instructional Coach, Social Worker, and School Resource Officer (SRO). In addition the providers will be equipped with professional development in regards to our Preschool curriculum. To begin the process, please scan the QR code below and complete the survey for preschool placement for the 2025–2026 school year.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment where young children can develop a love for learning. We aim to support every child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning and development. We strive to create a safe and joyful space where curiosity is encouraged, imagination is celebrated, and every child feels valued and loved.

What is The Creative Curriculum?

The Creative Curriculum is a teaching approach used in preschool that focuses on fostering children's natural curiosity and creativity. It’s designed to create a rich, engaging learning environment where children can explore, experiment, and learn in a way that suits their individual needs and interests.

Engage in Conversations

Talk with your child at home about what they are learning and doing in preschool to reinforce their experiences. At home ask your child questions about school.

Nurturing Growth

At Taylor Street, we believe that every child is unique and full of potential. Our approach is centered on fostering each child’s natural curiosity and creativity through play-based learning. We provide a rich, engaging curriculum that inspires exploration and discovery, supporting the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and social skills. Our goal is to cultivate a sense of wonder and a joy for learning that will stay with our children for a lifetime.

Our Team

Our team of dedicated early childhood educators, caregivers, and staff are passionate about supporting the holistic development of each child. With their expertise, compassion, and dedication, they create a warm and welcoming environment where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. Our educators are committed to ongoing professional development and are always exploring new ways to enhance the learning experience for our children.

A Foundation for Lifelong Learning

We believe that the early years are critical for setting the stage for lifelong learning and success. Our curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning and to help children develop the skills they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond. Through hands-on activities, interactive play, and structured learning experiences, we help our children build the foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interaction that will support their academic and personal growth.

Community and Family Engagement

We value the role of families in a child's education and development. We actively engage with parents, guardians, and the wider community to create a supportive network that enriches our children's learning experiences. We believe in open communication and partnership with families to ensure that each child's individual needs and strengths are recognized and nurtured.

A Bright Start

We are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where each child can begin their educational journey with confidence and joy. We look forward to welcoming you to our preschool, where the first steps in your child's educational journey are filled with wonder, discovery, and boundless opportunities.
