Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
The Washington Borough School District collaborates with cluster schools to create a cohesive curriculum to prepare students for success in the Warren Hills Regional School District. Curriculum and instruction content areas (English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, world language, comprehensive health and physical education, visual and performing arts, career readiness, life literacies and key skills, and computer science and design thinking) are aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) in accordance with the Department’s curriculum implementation timeline.
The Warren Hills Curriculum Consortium was officially formed in Spring 2024 to facilitate collaborative curriculum writing across six partner districts: Warren Hills Regional, Franklin Township, Mansfield, Washington Township, Oxford, and Washington Borough school districts.
The project began with Phase 1, where teachers from the participating districts collaboratively rewrote the curriculum for both Language Arts and Mathematics across all grade levels, Kindergarten through Grade 6. Following this success, Phase 2 saw the same group of schools writing the comprehensive Science curriculum for Grades K-6. The products of both collaborative phases are stored as consortium documents in Eduplanet, linked below.
The consortium plans to complete Phase 3, the writing of the Social Studies curriculum, during the summer of 2026. All existing curriculum not covered by this consortium that remains compliant with previous standard requirements is listed individually by subject below.

How can parents support their child?
Encourage reading at home by fostering a love for reading by providing a variety of books and encouraging daily reading time after school. Talk with your child about the topics they are learning in school to reinforce their understanding and make connections to real-life experiences.
Amplify Desmos Math is a core math curriculum for kindergarten through grade 6. We believe that a structured approach to problem-based learning builds on students’ curiosity to develop lasting grade-level understanding.
The Amplify Desmos Math curriculum uses student-centered instruction. In every lesson, students solve engaging and relevant problems, think critically, work collaboratively, and actively participate in their own learning.
