Dear Families,
As we wrap up another wonderful school year, I would like to thank you for your partnership, support, and commitment to your child's success. It has been a year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences, and we are incredibly proud of all that our students have accomplished.
While we encourage our students to enjoy their well deserved break, we also want to remind families of the importance of reading throughout the summer months. Research consistently shows that students who read regularly during the summer maintain and strengthen their literacy skills, helping them return to school confident and ready to learn. Reading for just 20 minutes a day can make a tremendous difference. Whether your child enjoys picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, magazines, or being read to by a family member, every minute spent reading helps build vocabulary, comprehension, and a lifelong love of learning.
Here are a few simple ways to keep reading fun this summer:
• Visit your local library and participate in summer reading programs.
• Allow your child to choose books that match their interests.
• Read together as a family.
• Discuss stories, characters, and favorite parts of books.
• Encourage older students to keep a reading journal or share book recommendations with friends.
Most importantly, enjoy this special time together. We hope your summer is filled with laughter, adventure, relaxation, and plenty of great books.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tatum Johnson
